Challenge
Women and gender-diverse people should feel safe and welcome in public places. Standard datasets miss how streets, parks, and journeys feel day to day.
Approach
YourGround is a crowdmapping site designed by CrowdSpot with Monash University’s XYX Lab. Participants mark places that feel uneasy, scary, or unwelcome, or happy, safe, and included.
Outcome
Two major campaigns built a spatial evidence base for research and advocacy: YourGround Victoria in 2021, then YourGround NSW in 2023 under Safer Cities.
