BikeSpot
Australia’s largest active-travel crowd map: riders naming where they feel safe and unsafe.
- 3Campaign waves
- 72,000+2023 submissions
- NationalLatest coverage
Challenge
Safety is the biggest barrier to riding. Councils needed community evidence on perceived risk, not only crash stats.
Approach
BikeSpot crowdsourced perceptions of cycling safety on CrowdSpot across three campaigns, growing from metropolitan Melbourne, to statewide Victoria, then the first national BikeSpot.
Outcome
BikeSpot 2023 alone gathered over 72,000 submissions. The archive map keeps the evidence public for infrastructure priorities.
